The Hampton University men put on an expected dominant show in their home opener Thursday night, beating overmatched Mid-Atlantic Christian 103-43 at the Convocation Center.

Perhaps taking out their frustrations from Monday’s season-opening 90-86 loss at Milwaukee, the Pirates (1-1) lit up the arena’s new state-of-the-art scoreboard against the Mustangs (2-2). Quintin Cooper and Aidan Haskins led Hampton with 16 points apiece. Christian Watson and Michael Eley each added 12.

The Pirates’ reserves combined for 79 points, and 13 HU players scored.

MACU, which plays in the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association’s New South Athletic Conference alongside Apprentice and is from Elizabeth City, North Carolina, was led by Latrell Thomson’s 11 points.
