BOSTON — The Bruins are down another forward after Johnny Beecher suffered an upper-body injury in Thursday’s 3-2 overtime win over the Senators.
Beecher took a hit from Kurtis MacDermid late in the first period and did not return.
Mark Kastelic, who has regularly been Beecher’s linemate over the past two seasons, tried to tangle with MacDermid, in what appeared to be a response to the hit.
Beecher had played six shifts over 4:07 before the injury. The Bruins finished the game with 11 forwards.
Marco Sturm called it an upper-body injury and didn’t have a status update after the game. The Bruins are off on Friday before heading to Toronto.
The Bruins are already down one forward with Elias Lindholm out. If Beecher is out, Jeffrey Viel would be the only extra forward on the roster u
