The Supreme Court of India has issued a notice to Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami and the West Bengal government on a petition filed by his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, seeking an increase in the monthly maintenance granted to her and their daughter.
Jahan has challenged a Calcutta High Court order that had fixed the alimony at Rs 1.5 lakh per month for her and Rs 2.5 lakh for their daughter. In her plea, she argued that the amount was insufficient given Shami's financial status and lifestyle, and sought a higher monthly maintenance.
