OCDSB supervisor says he won't look to special education first for cuts

Parents have feared programs will be on the chopping block. But Bob Plamondon says there are lots of places to find savings

Special education is “the last place” the supervisor appointed to oversee Ottawa’s largest school board would look to save money, he says. Article content

“These are the students that have acute needs, who have every right to have the best possible education within the framework of the policies and the funding that they have, and (should have) every opportunity to succeed,” Bob Plamondon told members of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board’s Special Education Advisory Committee on Wednesday night. “So that’s not the first place I would look. There’s lots of places where we can find savings.”
