Donovan Lewis’s Delaware football season nearly ended before it really started.

He broke his collarbone in the Blue Hens’ final preseason scrimmage, a disappointing and painful experience he immediately assumed had dire consequences.

“I thought my season was over,” he said.

It was not, as it turned out.
