DOVER — With the packed house, the manicured lawn and the majestic light towers, the setting bordered on the surreal.
Dunaway Field made its debut in September 1968, and the Dover High School football team christened its new gridiron against perennial power Nashua in the program’s first night game on home soil.
“It was stunning to the point it was almost overwhelming,” recalled former Green Wave player Ernie Clark. “Coming out of the locker room and stepping onto the field, there was a tremendous crowd there.”
