Indianapolis knows firsthand what happens when hospital funding dries up.

In recent years, the city’s only osteopathic hospital and Kindred Hospital Indianapolis South have both closed their doors. Across Central Indiana, major health systems like Ascension St. Vincent and IU Health have shuttered facilities. More closings would push our local health care system past its breaking point.

That’s why the Trump administration is right to step in and make sure Indiana doesn’t balance its budget on the backs of patients. The administration is reviewing state-level proposals to cut Medicaid, and it should make clear that no state should reduce funding for lawful beneficiaries.
