The state government has sent a proposal to the central government to set up a fare fixing committee for the metro. Due to this, the metro fare is likely to increase in the coming months.

This fare hike can be applied to the Andheri (West)-Dahisar Metro 2A and Gundavali-Dahisar Metro 7 lines. The MMRDA had sent a proposal to set up a fare fixing committee to the state government in August.

The state government approved this proposal last month and sent it to the central government's Salt Pan Department. After the approval of the center, this committee will be set up under the chairmanship of a High Court judge.

Currently, the fare on MMRDA's Metro 2A and 7 lines is Rs 20 for distances of 3 to 12 km.
