A longtime forensic criminologist is expected to continue testimony as the trial of three ex-SAPD officers charged in Melissa Perez’s 2023 death continues into its 20th day on Friday.

Thursday’s court proceedings ended with Dr. Tim Martinelli on the stand, the sixth witness called on by the joint defense team.

Angelos Leiloglou, a 3D forensic analyst and the defense’s fifth witness to testify, was on the stand for approximately two hours and 32 minutes on Thursday morning and afternoon.

In his presentation, Leiloglou offered a yet-to-be seen perspective to jurors.

While body-worn camera video showed what the officers saw from their chests’ level, Leiloglou’s 3D recreations provided an eye-level view of what the ex-officers and Perez saw during the fatal shooting on June 23, 2023.
