Luke Chao says he was expecting 30 students and pizza. Instead, one of the most divisive conflicts in the world came crashing through his door.

Chao, 43, is the owner and consulting hypnotist of The Morpheus Clinic for Hypnosis, on Elm Street in Toronto, where his business has been located for 19 years. Earlier this week, he accepted a booking on PeerSpace, an online booking app that rents out event spaces.

The event, it turned out, was being put on by a TMU student group, Students Supporting Israel, which was hosting two American Israel Defense Force soldiers.

As things were getting started Wednesday, protesters broke into Chao’s office to disrupt the event , shattering a glass door. The protest had been organized by another TMU student organization, Students for Justice in Palestine
