WASHINGTON —
Starting Friday, major airports across the United States are experiencing increased disruptions due to the government shutdown, with the Federal Aviation Administration announcing a reduction in air traffic capacity of up to 10% because of a shortage of air traffic controllers working without pay.
Travelers are waking up this morning waiting to see if their flights will be affected , with Delta Air Lines canceling more than 150 flights on Friday and American Airlines planning to cut 220 flights daily through Monday.
The FAA has selected 40 airports across more than two dozen states , including major hubs like Atlanta, Dallas, and Los Angeles, to scale back operations.
