ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Travelers in Atlanta and across the country can expect fewer flights as the country’s longest government shutdown continues into its second month.

The Federal Aviation Administration is expected to officially announce the 40 “high-volume markets” where it is reducing flights by 10 percent before the cuts go into effect Friday.

Sources provided Atlanta News First an internal memo which included the full list of airports. Included on that, to no surprise, is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world’s busiest.

The move is intended to keep the air space safe during the shutdown, the agency said.
