Dean Clancy’s op-ed in the Oct. 27 News Tribune reflected what seems the typical response of Republicans to the Affordable Care Act, or ACA, which is that it’s too expensive and we need to get rid of it. (Clancy’s column, one side of a “Pro/Con” pairing of columns, was headlined, “ Government shutdown about opposing Trump, not Obamacare .”)
Republicans have blocked attempts at health care reform, especially those led by Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, and have done little to nothing to suggest alternatives. President Donald Trump said his party would replace the ACA in his first term. Nothing happened. Now Republicans have not provided an alternative.
If not funded, millions would be without health care. That would be the fault of Republicans.
