PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. —
U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik has officially launched her campaign to become New York's next governor.
Stefanik shared a video on social media with a link to an official campaign page. She has been teasing the possibility of running for governor for months, publicly criticizing Gov. Kathy Hochul.
"Kathy Hochul is the worst governor in America," Stefanik wrote in her announcement on Friday. "Under her failed leadership, New York is the most unaffordable state in the nation with the highest taxes, highest energy, utilities, rent, and grocery bills."
Stefanik is a fierce ally of President Donald Trump. Trump nominated her as his ambassador to the United Nations earlier this year but rescinded the nomination over concerns that the U.S. House of Representatives would lose its
