BENGALURU: The gold smuggling case involving Sandalwood actress Ranya Rao has reached its final stage. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has been investigating the case for the past six months and is preparing to file a chargesheet soon.

The investigation has revealed that Rs 123 crore worth of gold was smuggled illegally, with Ranya Rao allegedly involved in smuggling Rs 102 crore worth of gold. The DRI had earlier issued show-cause notices to five accused, including Ranya Rao.

The investigation has also uncovered the misuse of Ranya Rao’s stepfather and IPS officer Ramachandra Rao’s official car and the misuse of politicians’ names in the smuggling operation.
