We've been seeing some pretty mild conditions across Southern Illinois, but that's about to change dramatically. Today, we have a chance to see some showers and even a few isolated thunderstorms.

A bitterly cold airmass is set to arrive Sunday, bringing the coldest temperatures we've seen all season. Sunday’s highs may only struggle to reach the 40s, and Monday is shaping up to be even colder, with highs potentially staying in the low to mid 40s.

Lows Sunday night and Monday night are forecast to plummet into the 20s with wind chills in the teens on Monday and Tuesday mornings.

After this cold snap, we expect a warming trend to begin by Tuesday, with temperatures gradually climbing back into the 50s and 60s by mid-week.
