BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- What might appear to be a real person in a video could actually be AI generated.
Birmingham residents Adam Kitchens and Jasper Franklin said they come across AI generated videos almost every day when scrolling social media.
"They've been getting consistently more realistic as months have gone by," said Franklin. "There's a couple that I see every week that I have to do some research on to see if it's AI or not," said Kitchens.
With the government shutdown in effect, videos related to the shutdown have been populating social media timelines as well.
"It changes people's perspective on some really important issues," said Kitchen.
An AI and Cybersecurity expert at UAB, Shuya Feng, has been researching the fundamental challenges of AI security and privacy.
