If there was any scenario where there could be two “winners” in a high school championship final, look no further than Thursday’s Thunder Bay senior boys volleyball gold medal game.
Realistically that’s not how things went down. The Hammarskjold Vikings staked their claim as the top program in the Lakehead once again as they defeated the La Verendrye Viperes 25-21, 15-25, 25-20, 25-18 in front of a lively crowd on their home court.
The Vikings (13-1) have now won three-straight city titles in a row and march into the regional championship series next week with eyes on a return to the OFSAA ‘AA’ provincial event.
“It means so much with all the hard work we’ve put in the season, all the hours we’ve been in the gym, practicing to really come together and win this title,” said Fenn Dobson,
