First-look photographs from the second season of UKTV's hugely successful detective series Bergerac have emerged – showcasing several intriguing newcomers joining the ensemble, including a familiar face from Midsomer Murders .

The Jersey-set drama, penned by Toby Whithouse (The Red King, Being Human), offers a fresh take on the cherished 1980s BBC series that featured John Nettles, with Damien Molony assuming the mantle of the talented but flawed detective Jim Bergerac, managing his existence as a recovering alcoholic and widower.

He's joined by impressive additions to the cast such as Adrian Edmondson (Rain Dogs, Midsomer Murders) and Lesley Sharp (Red Eye, Before We Die) for the sophomore instalment, which features an impressive ensemble, as seen in Hello! report
