WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Waterbury fire officials say a firefighter was injured responding to a multifamily house fire Friday morning.
Crews were dispatched to the two and a half story wood frame structure on the 100 block of Sylvan Avenue around 8:30 a.m.
Fire Capitan Patridge said the heavy fire was knocked down at 8:54 a.m. after firefighters had to cut a hole into the structure's roof to vent the fire.
The injured firefighter was transported to a hospital with "not serious" injuries, Patridge said.
He mentioned hoarding conditions made "interior operations" difficult.
No other injuries were reported.
