STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A motorcyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a vehicle in Stamford, police said.

A 26-year-old was operating north around 8:42 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Greenwich Avenue at South State Street when the motorcycle collided with a 2019 Mercedes, according to police.

Police said the operator was thrown from the motorcycle and subsequently taken to an area hospital with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries.

The intersection was closed for over three hours while authorities investigated.
