Multiple people have fallen ill after a “suspicious package” containing white powder and political propaganda was delivered to a US military base in Maryland, according to a report.

“As a precaution, the building and connecting building were evacuated , and a cordon was established around the area,” CNN reported, citing a statement from Joint Base Andrews, which is located outside Washington, DC.

“Joint Base Andrews first responders were dispatched to the scene, determined there were no immediate threats, and have turned the scene over to Office of Special Investigations.”

An individual received and opened the delivery on Thursday, inside a building that houses the Air National Guard Readiness Center. Sources close to the investigation said it contained a white powder, though what
