LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A man is dead after being hit by a vehicle on Preston Highway.

Police said that around 6:10 a.m. Friday, LMPD Seventh Division officers responded to a crash at Preston Highway and Tower Road.

They said a vehicle hit a man who was crossing the road.

According to police, the man, who was wearing dark clothing, stepped into the path of a car going south on Preston.

Police said the driver stopped right away, called 911, and stayed at the scene.

EMS arrived and pronounced the man dead there.

The driver is cooperating with police, and no charges are expected.

No other vehicles were involved. LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating.

The road has reopened.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s name after his family is notified.
