LIVINGSTON — Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte, his staff, and members of the media toured Producer Partnership, a nonprofit meat processing facility east of Livingston on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
Matt Pierson, founder and president of Producer Partnership, the only federally U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspected nonprofit meat processing facility in the U.S., guided the behind-the-scenes excursion through a modular kill floor and coolers.
The tour occurred amid the second month of the longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history causing SNAP distribution delays and unprecedented food bank need. Approximately 85% of Producer Partnership processed meat is donated to Montana food banks, per Pierson.
