PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to make fully funded November SNAP payments for the millions of Americans who receive food stamps, despite the ongoing government shutdown. Some Oregonians have already begun to receive their payments.
The ruling came from a federal judge in Rhode Island in response to a challenge from cities and non-profits. The administration had been offering to cover only 65% of the maximum benefit, a decision that would have left some recipients getting nothing for November.
During Thursday’s hearing, the judge said the administration had not acted quickly enough to release the funds.
Following Governor Tina Kotek’s directive, the Oregon Department of Human Services worked through the night to issue full November benefits b
