India's philanthropy space saw ₹10,380 crore donations in FY25. According to the EdelGive Hurun Philanthropy list, the education sector emerged as the biggest beneficiary, with most of the top 12 donors prioritising education. Many of them also have educational institutions linked to their names.

Philanthropy’s report card

EdelGive CEO Naghma Mulla believes education attracts more donation because of tangible results like number of students and skilled professionals impacted. Unlike education, philanthropic efforts in healthcare, environment and sustainability require patient capital. Philanthropy is also seeing consolidation of sectors as well as donors.
