A cold front is expected to drop temperatures across the Tampa Bay area into the 40s next week.

Meteorologist Greg Dee said the coldest weather since last winter is expected to move into the area Sunday night and into Monday.

Late afternoon, Monday afternoon, temps are forecast to be in the 50s or 60s.

Here is the timeline Greg Dee has for the cold front:

Monday's high temperatures will be whatever the temperature is at midnight. During the day, strong winds will push cold air into central Florida, causing the temperature to fall all day. By late afternoon, we're likely to be in the upper 50s & low 60s.

Tuesday morning will be the coldest of the period. Most towns north of the Bay will be in the 30s. Tampa right now is forecast to fall to 40, which is the record low for the date.
