Major work at Peterborough Town Hall is due to get underway in the coming weeks. The mitigation work, which will reportedly cost around £900,000, was authorised by cabinet members in July after reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) was found at the Town Hall on Bridge Street.

It will take place on the upper floor of the building because the current floor construction - the roof of the original 1930s building - would not be strong enough to withstand RAAC panels should they fall.

At a council scrutiny meeting on November 6, former Mayor of Peterborough Nick Sandford asked for the latest update on the work, given that it was classed as "urgent" by council officers in the summer.
