Four months since a teenager was fatally shot after he and a group of others allegedly broke into a White Lake Township garage in an attempted burglary, the homeowner has been charged with manslaughter and other felonies.

Along with manslaughter, Dayton Knapton, 24, is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm and two counts of felony firearm for the death of Sivan Wilson, 17, and the injury of another who was shot in the leg during the July 8 incident. It’s alleged Knapton fired shots from a 9mm semiautomatic handgun through the windowless, locked garage door after the group broke in at around 1 a.m. He also allegedly fired five more shots as the suspects were fleeing, went back in his home and reloaded the firearm, and then returned outside.
