The stalemate persisted on the second day of the third round of talks between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban, as Islamabad accused Kabul of failing to rein in terrorism. Taking to X, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said, “Pakistan is thankful to the brotherly countries of Turkiye and Qatar for mediating the talks. The onus lies on Afghanistan to fulfil its long-standing international, regional, and bilateral pledges regarding the control of terrorism — in which, so far, they have failed.”

The minister stressed that Pakistan harboured no ill will toward the Afghan people but made it clear that the country would not support any measures by the Afghan Taliban regime that harmed the interests of Afghans or neighbouring states.
