CINCINNATI (ENQUIRER) - Greater Cincinnati Water Works will not shut off water for customers who don’t pay their bills – if those customers have been furloughed from federal jobs or denied SNAP benefits, our partners at the Cincinnati Enquirer report.
Effective Nov. 7, Water Works will pause disconnections for customers behind on water bills with proof of those circumstances.

“The chaos in Washington is causing direct harm to some of our most vulnerable residents,” Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval said in a news release. “Nobody should have to decide between food for their families or basic utilities.”
Eligible customers will get the billing reprieve until the federal government shutdown ends.
