Authorities are investigating a violent early morning shooting that left one man critically injured in the heart of downtown Newark.
According to a statment released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, police responded to reports of gunfire around 2:18 a.m. Friday, November 7, in the 300 block of University Avenue.
Shortly after, officers were notified that a man had arrived at University Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim remains in critical condition as detectives continue to piece together what led to the shooting.
Police have not released any information about potential suspects or motives.
