Consumer sentiment is near an all-time low according to a new survey, which could be bad news President Donald Trump.
A University of Michigan survey released on Friday showed that alarm over the continuing government shutdown surged last month, leading consumer sentiment to plummet, CNBC reported.
The survey found that consumer sentiment fell to its lowest level in nearly three years.
Trump last year ran for president in part by promising to fix the economy and lower prices.
Trump had blamed then-President Joe Biden for high consumer prices.
The University of Michigan’s monthly Index of Consumer Sentiment posted a reading of 50.3 for November, indicating a decline of 6.2% on the month and about 30% from a year ago.
