The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation announced the arrest of four people in connection with the October 15, 2023 shooting death of Jaylen Burns at the University Pointe Apartments near Jackson State University.

Jackson State Cancels Classes After Student Killed On Campus

Local officers initially responded to reports of gunfire and found Burns with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died. On November 9, 2023, MBI was asked to take over the case.
