DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — HSHS St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur will host an event honoring organ and tissue donors next week.
The National Donor Sabbath Service is an annual observance offering a time of reflection, prayer and gratitude for those who have given or received organs and tissues, those who continue to wait and those who have died.
"The National Donor Sabbath reminds us of the incredible compassion and courage shown through organ and tissue donation," said Donation Liaison with Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network Tami Pruetzel. "We gather to honor donors and their families whose generosity brings healing and hope to others, and to reaffirm our shared commitment to saving lives through donation."
The service will be held on Friday, November 14 at 10 a.m. in the St. Mary's C
