HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Gov. Ned Lamont (D-Conn.) said Friday that SNAP recipients in Connecticut will start to see money loaded on their cards by early next week.

Lamont said that the state will be fully funding SNAP through the end of this month and potentially longer, depending on how long the government shutdown continues. The money to fund SNAP is coming from a "rainy day fund," and the state will use $72 million.

About 360,000 people in Connecticut receive SNAP benefits. Lamont said the money will be loaded in "three to four days."

This morning, the Trump Administration asked to immediately block an order that requires full November SNAP benefits to be paid to states by Friday.
