Dimitar Berbatov has expressed sympathy for Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo .
The young midfielder has struggled for consistent game time under Ruben Amorim, and had a request to leave the club on loan turned down in the summer .
The England international started last year’s Euro 2024 final - where the Three Lions were defeated 2-1 by Spain - but has not made any of Thomas Tuchel’s squads since the German took over.
The 20-year-old has made just eight appearances in all competitions, and he has not started a single Premier League match.
Now, former United striker Berbatov has said that it has been a “cruel” last few months for the midfielder.
“It's a very tough situation, especially for a young player,' Berbatov told the Daily Mail.
