MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — Supporters of a nearly $900-million bond to fund expansions to Valleywise Health are declaring victory after the latest batch of election results were released Thursday.

Proposition 409 appears to have passed with 51% of voters supporting the ballot measure, according to the latest election results. The measure is projected to raise property taxes by 11 cents per $100 of net assessed limited property value.

The bond money will support a new 200-bed behavioral health hospital to replace a 50-year-old facility and expand mental health services for the residents of Maricopa County. Bond money would also go toward expanding pediatric and primary care.
