TOWN OF CLAY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Construction of Micron's megafab campus in the Town of Clay will get started later and take longer than initially promised.
The delay in timeline was quietly announced through the release of the Final Environmental Impact Statement, a lengthy report about the impacts the project will have on the community.
Initial site preparation, casually referred to as a "groundbreaking," is still promised by the end of 2025, but construction of the campus' first chip-making factory wouldn't begin until mid-2026.
Instead of taking just over two years, the first building is now slated to take at least four years.
Construction of the second fabrication facility would be delayed from mid-2028 to the end of 2030.
