Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido is asking county commissioners to approve nearly $300,000 in additional spending for items such as an artificial intelligence program and a recurring request for independent counsel, for portions of his proposed 2026 budget that were denied by County Executive Mark Hackel.
Lucido and his staff, in their budget presentation last week, said they want to add the $294,250 expenditures on top of the approximately $630,000 increase from this year – all built-in expenses – that was approved by Hackel.
Lucido’s proposed additional discretionary expenses would be 1.6% beyond the 3.6% increase approved by Hackel, from $17.5 million to $18.1 million, for the Prosecutor’s Office proposed budget that has been submitted to the Board of Commissioners for approval.
