SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Dade City teenager died after he crashed and was thrown from a pickup truck as it overturned in Sumter County on Thursday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said the 17-year-old driver was traveling eastbound on Center Grade Road at a high speed when he lost control of the truck near County Road 471 around 9 p.m.
The truck entered the left shoulder and overturned, investigators said.
As the pickup overturned, troopers said the driver and 18-year-old front passenger were thrown from the truck.
They were both taken to a hospital. The 17-year-old boy later died from his injuries.
