TRAVERSE CITY, MI – There are no canceled flights in or out of this Northern Michigan airport, but passengers could see “secondary impacts” as flights are cut across the country, officials said.

The Federal Aviation Administration has ordered airlines to reduce flights at 40 airports due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. Traverse City’s Cherry Capital Airport is not on the list, but it offers direct routes to and from three of the airports affected.

“We may experience secondary impacts,” according to a news release from Cherry Capital. “At this time, there are no delays or cancellations at TVC.”

Some airlines have indicated that they may minimize impacts on passengers by cutting routes to and from small and medium-size cities, NPR reports .
