A missing persons case in Barrie has resulted in a murder charge.

Barrie Police Chief Rich Johnston said today that on October 30th Barrie police were searching for a missing couple – the woman in the couple, known as Sascha has been found dead; her common law spouse, a 46 year old Barrie man was taken into custody in the Stouffville area and is charged with second degree murder – in what the Chief says is a clear case of Femicide.

Chief Johnston reiterated in a post on social media that Intimate partner violence has been recognized an epidemic by the City of Barrie, the province of Ontario, the Government of Canada and the World Health organization.
