A wave of panic swept through Mohali’s upscale Phase 7 late Thursday night after unidentified assailants unleashed a hail of bullets — over 35 rounds — at the residence of retired Punjab Irrigation Department officer, Maninder Singh Sodhi (62). The attackers opened fire, shattering the midnight calm and leaving the entire neighbourhood in shock.
“Around 12.30 am, we suddenly heard what sounded like firecrackers. We thought someone was celebrating,” Sodhi said.
“But soon my son called, saying someone was near the window grill. When we went upstairs, no one was there later, we saw bullet marks on the walls, roof, and even on the cars parked inside.”
