Marshawn Kneeland’s tragic death is still a fresh wound, but it can be quite difficult for fans to separate the sport they love from real life. It often leads to uncomfortable interactions.

Per a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Kneeland was involved in a traffic stop following a moving violation in Frisco, Texas.

A chase would ensue, and the police would lose sight of him. The car was later found after a crash. Kneeland died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after leading Texas DPS troopers on a chase.

Many of his current and former teammates, like Micah Parsons, have mourned him on social media.
