Honolulu police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who tried to sexually assault a 22-year-old woman on Waialae Avenue on Thursday night.

Police said the woman was taking out the trash in front of her home at about 7:45 p.m. when an unknown man attacked her and attempted to remove her clothing. She fought back and was able to escape, and the suspect fled in an unknown direction.

The victim sustained injuries, police said. Authorities did not immediately release a description of the suspect or details about the injuries.
