INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis fentanyl dealer was sentenced Friday for the dealing death of a woman in 2023.

Rashaan Williams was sentenced Nov. 7 to 40 years in prison for the dealing death of Shylis Garrett following his conviction in October. A jury found Williams guilty of dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death, a felony, following a three-day trial.

Williams was also given a habitual offender sentencing enhancement.

On July 14, 2023, the Marion County Coroner's Office was called to an apartment in the 4000 block of Monaco Drive , near Kessler Boulevard East Drive and Allisonville Road, on the northeast side of Indianapolis for a death investigation.
