WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Woonsocket High School was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday after a student allegedly threatened to assault another student.
According to police, a 16-year-old student threatened to leave campus and return with a gun. Staff notified the school resource officer around 8:40 a.m.
Police said the 16-year-old student appeared agitated as he left the school, prompting the lockdown. Officers located him walking to his home. After meeting with a parent, police searched the house.
Inside the 16-year-old's home, police said they found a 15-year-old hiding in a bedroom, along with a machete, a rifle, a handgun, ammunition and multiple packages of marijuana.
The lockdown was lifted once police confirmed that the 16-year-old student no longer posed a threat.
