BAXTER — A day after the public hearing on the Highway 371 overpass project packed people into Forestview Middle School, the Baxter City Council considered what questions it needed to have answered.
The $58 million project to redesign the intersection at highways 210 and 371 is funded from the Corridors of Commerce program. While a number of reactions have noted something needs to be done at the busy intersection to handle traffic into the future, reaction to the Minnesota Department of Transportation preferred design of the buttonhook has been roundly criticized by area businesses.
At the recent public hearing, which drew more than 300 people and had more than 30 speakers addressing the council, most comments were opposed to the design.
