HOUSTON – In a year where he’s resurrected his football career, Texans cornerback Damon Arnette Jr. is being signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.
Agents Ray Haija, Adie von Gontard and Steve Weinberg told KPRC 2 Friday afternoon that Arnette was being promoted.
The Texans waived cornerback Alijah Huzzie and placed cornerback Jaylin Smith on injured reserve with a knee injury, filling a need in the secondary and special teams by signing Arnette to the active roster.
For the first time in four years, Arnette played in an actual NFL regular-season game against the Baltimore Ravens earlier this season.
Arnette had hit rock bottom between that time as a Las Vegas Raiders’ first-round draft pick from Ohio State who experienced multiple legal and personal issues that derailed
